No thanks to my preluding complaints I ended up having a great Christmas. I still don’t think gifts are a necessary part but who am I to complain about receiving money, new yoga mat, vacuum cleaner and other very useful and yummy and generous gifts?

What I enjoyed most was the time I got to spend playing games. Handstands, rope-swings and Just Dance on Nintendo Wii resulted from sugar highs and were followed by Balderdash, a game where you make up definitions, which I considerably and shamefully sucked at (considering my hopes of being a writer).

I blame the drink.

What I came to realise is that Christmas, even if a consumerist and mis-interpreted affair celebrated in Australia at the wrong time of year, is still a fun day with the family and a good excuse for naughty food.

So keep the tradition, see if I care.
