I disagree Juliet with your one sentence implying people must procreate and can not change that behaviour. Wrong. ie. If we were given the choice of continuing to mindlessly breed to extinction within 100 years OR restrict future generations to 1 child per couple, which choice do you think people would make? Extinction is a bleak outcome if we do not do something about re-thinking the right to procreate, as humans collectively. Therefore I do not agree that procreation is a given for the times we are living in and our future.

Kelly Mckay says that I love this blog! I have been getting so fired up about Rudd’s plans for a population explosion (35mil by 2050) and most people just think I’m xenophobic! I agree with you; let’s keep Australia the beautiful country that it is and not let it turn into another India. I think that people sometimes forget that increasing our population to such an extent would wipe out a lot of the very reasons that we love this country so much.,can anyone comment on this?

True true - not without it's problems, but their population is decreasing. I wonder how such a policy would go in other countries....
