I was a little concerned that some nihilism was creeping in there for a sec, Ms. Bennett but I think we're safe. Having mercy on that lowly critter proves that your conscience is functional. If a mosquito had its derrick buried in your arm, I'm sure that your mercy for the insect would suddenly disappear. Conscience is a mysterious creature in itself and how we each tweak and tune our own is a lifelong process - possibly the moving target that you seem to be trying to hit.

You expressed before that you're intentionally distancing yourself from the status quo religion of western civilization as many of us have. I'm curious to learn what your take is on East-meets-West comparative philosophy/religion. I'm sure you agree that Gandhi, Lau Tsu, Buddha, and Jesus all propagated a curriculum of grace and peace. I believe somehow that Juliet Bennett is developing her own timely curriculum for a troubled world. And whether or not you believe it, you ARE in a position to DO something effective.

Ya know, the problems in India may be attributed to the misapplication of the teaching of the Vedas in much the same way that West has missed the higher points of Biblical teaching. Every discipline has a set of texts and contexts to hold things together and guide its practitioners from one day to the next. You and I and surely many others who follow your blog understand that useful doctrines must change and adapt to "the present truth" as the Apostle Paul put it. You need to know that you have disciples out here. Where is your Curriculum Vitae going to next?
